For a normal DJ set-up, we arrive approximately 1 hour
before the scheduled start time. Our average set-up process takes
only 20 minutes but the rest of the time is devoted to equipment
checks, last-minute coordination with the banquet department and
other vendors, time for reaction to any complexities, and overall
peace of mind. For complex and double set-ups (i.e. ceremony and
reception) we typically arrive 90 minutes prior to start time. Our
early arrival is not charged to the clients. We charge when the
music or announcements start.
A: There is no charge if the travel distance is within
Monterey, Contra Costa, and Sonoma Counties. If travel is outside
these counties, contact us for a realistic travel quote. Travel
charges average $20.00 per each 30-mile increment outside the above
county lines each way. Mileage calculations are done via
www.mapquest.com.
A: We prefer to play CD's and CDR's. This allows quick clean
mixes of clear sounding songs. On rare occasion we are requested to
play MP3's on a palm computer or tapes on a tape deck. These two
forms of media are more difficult and time-consuming but if there is
a music request that cannot be provided in any of the preferred
fashions (CD or CDR), then we will consider the alternatives.
A: Yes, clients are able to provide their own supplemental
music on CD or CDR. When we receive the music on or before the
event, we ask that the client inventory and label the songs they
would like played. Popular methods include corresponding lists or
"Post-its". Upon receiving the CD's, we count them and provide you
with a number count of the CD's. At the end of the event the CD's are
returned to the client's designated individual if requested to do
so.

We carry liability insurance suitable to all locations
listed in this Website. If your event location requires a copy, we
are happy to provide it to them.

Typically, with formal events, we wear a suit and tie.
For more casual events, we wear slacks and a button up shirt. We can
dress up or down for your occasion depending on what you expect your
guests to be wearing. Feel free to give us your thoughts so that we
may dress appropriately.

Typically at events, there is ample food and a small
meal is provided for the DJ while he/she is playing background music
but it is not expected. Please let us know if you would like us to
arrange for our own meal to be brought and we will happily do so. In
either scenario, we always keep close attention to the music being
played if we also have the chance to have a quick meal.
A: Gratuity is not included in the entertainment fee and is
completely up to the clients. We only invite you to tip if you feel
that the entertainment / performance was provided at a level worthy
of gratuity. When we do receive a tip, the trend has been between 5%
and 10% of the performance fee.
A: Please contact us for the entertainment fee. Payments can be
made in cash, check or money order payable to "Spotlight". Credit
card payments can be made via our Website. The deposit is due upon
signing and deducted from the balance. The balance payment is due 2
weeks before the event date.

We are members of the National Association of Mobile
Entertainers (N.A.M.E.), American DJ Association (A.D.J.A), and
Promo Only. We have also provided donated entertainment services to
"Big Brothers, Big Sisters", "Make A Wish Foundation", "John 23rd
AIDS Ministry", "Special Olympics", and "Team in Training - Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society". If you are involved in a charity / non-profit
organization, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to
discuss the possibilities of our entertainment contribution.
A: Typically events are private functions. Existing clients
usually don't like the idea of those not invited showing up. This
also can become a distraction to the DJ. Therefore we discourage
potential clients from coming to private celebrations. To bring
comfort to a potential client and their decision to book with us, we
are happy to accommodate meetings at our office. This lets everyone
have good face-to-face time during the planning process. During this
time we can get to know your personal entertainment interests and
you can get to know the DJ personally. We are also happy to provide
perspective clients with a list of references including vendors and
previous clients if requested. Finally, upon request, we are happy
to provide you with a DVD of a small sample of our services with
some of our MC and DJ highlights.

the list of locations for which we have provided service. If
your location is not on the list, we are always happy to become
acquainted with a new venue. We strive to do whatever possible to
pre-establish communication and details with new venues. This occurs
during the event planning process and has always gone well in the
past.
Feel free to contact us with any additional questions.
